On the ethical side of things, we do try to keep things in the family (the UK). In addition to making most of our products in-house in our Edinburgh studio, we also only use Scottish or UK based suppliers and manufacturers. Which means that we are helping to support the UK economy and the businesses here, and that there’s also less distance on the supply chain, which equals to us contributing to being greener.

We have came up with designs to introduce into our coasters and placemats in our homeware range, and they are to match our debut wallpaper collection. So you will have the option of going all out with our designs, or you can choose to have snippets of it here and there as accessories around the home. And what best to start with but with placemats and coasters?

This new range is to completely replace the ones we currently have on our website, and it will be melamine finished to ensure prolonged durability. So not only will it be more robust, it will also be easier to care for.

On that note, we are so pleased at how the proofs had turned out that we now just cannot decide which one we should go for to start our modest collection of coasters and placemats designs! And this is where you come in to help us out!

As we highly value your opinion and great taste, we thought YOU should decide as to which ones you’d let into your design-conscious homes! We’ll even reward you for this! So we’re letting you decide which four out of the six design options below that are your favourites, and we should be making to add to our homeware range.

Well, well.. I am of course talking about the exhibitions that I have been spreading words about since a few months back.

Just in case you’ve just tuned in, I am talking about the Scottish-Polish “KOLEKTYW” exhibition in Edinburgh, which is still on until the 2nd of December. Also the much awaited “FourFront” exhibition at Manchester Art and Design Centre, which will be running until 9th March 2013.

Following the successful exhibition at Manchester, which had been put together beautifully by the organisers of this event – a partnership between Manchester Craft and Design Centre and Craft Scotland, I am happy to say that some photos from the event is well due.

I am honoured to have been included as one of the four exhibitors that had been selected for this event, exhibiting alongside three other incredibly talented creatives in the vibrant ‘Northern Quarter‘ area of Manchester.

So without further adieu here it is:

This exhibition runs until March 2013, so plenty of time if you’re around the neighbourhood before then. Do drop by and say hi to some of the lovely ladies up there, and see the work on show of course! There are loads to see when you’re there, apart from the obvious FourFront exhibition, there are also many talents in the building with plenty of lovely work to look at and buy.

I would like to extend my massive thanks to everyone who came to this event’s preview last Saturday, 24th November.

Edinburgh – Scottish/ Polish KOLEKTYW Exhibition

New designs on both wallpaper + cushions are on show for the very first time in this event, and I am delighted to say that it has been a pretty successful exhibition so far.

This group exhibition is a mixture of artists and designers from a mixture of ethnicity, background, and creative disciplines, and I am delighted to be exhibiting along some really strong work and really talented individuals in this instance. A big thank you to everyone who turned up on the opening night and made it the exciting evening that it was.

This exhibition is currently taking place in the art’s complex’ gallery 1, at the 3rd floor.

There are in fact more images from the KOLEKTYW event to share on here, but I’ll post it on an upcoming separate post.

For the time being you get a general idea of what’s on display, so if you fancy having a closer look feel free to come along to the exhibition while it’s still running. It is on until Sunday, 2nd December at 5pm. So catch it while it’s there!

Also, there will be a closing night event on Saturday, 1st December, from 6pm-9.30pm, where the Polish Cultural Festival Association is involved. So it will be an exciting evening filled with polish food, drinks, and entertainment. This is a free event to attend.

That’s that for now, keep your eyes peeled for more updates on the KOLEKTYW exhibition after the closing night!

Now for the next event in line.. Open Studio @ art’s complex – Christmas Edition.

There will be plenty to look at and things to do on the two days here.
There will also be plenty of samples ready for you to look at and choose from, and the opportunity to get your hands on our new hand-printed cushions, all ready for Christmas!

We will also have some drinks and nibbles ready on hand to keep the crowd happy!

Things have been really hectic in the studio in the recent months.

Even though new designs have been brewing in the background, I’ve not really had the chance to properly update the website some of the updates we have. Due to heavy work load and a number of difficult personal events that came in the way.

So in the spirit of making up for my slight neglect, thought I ought to post something to do with what’s actually been happening around here in the shades, just to keep everyone in the loop. Especially with a few exhibitions coming up, think it’s quite an exciting time to share what actually happens in the background (pre-glammed up designy stuff all ready to go to their new homes), complete with pictures too!

This is what happens or what it looks like when we’re hand-mixing the colours prior to printing, as one of the many preparations that’s very important to the whole screen-printing aspect. I really like the look of it, looks beautiful borderline tasty-looking actually (I highly suggest not to have a taste though).

Then there’s the testing of one’s mixed colour pot, which we put through the wash test as well so we can all be certain that it is safe for washing…

So, on this note.. this is a just a short announcement that we will be on our annual leave between 26th July – 26th August.

Our Edinburgh studio will be closed during this period, but the website will be up and running per the usual, where you can place orders, email us enquiries, etc. However, seeing that everything we have to offer you is handmade and are all made to order, we will not be processing them until we’re back.

So sit tight, and try and not miss us too much!

We will still have our stuff sold at the usual stockists though, so give that a go while you’re out and about enjoying the sunshine (or rain!).

I’ve been introducing metallic colour on a lighter base, as a lovely alternative to the black base that’s been distinctively Moody Monday, with lovely results if I should dare say so myself.

The best part about the wallpaper designs and colourways in the collection is that not only is it all hand printed, also you have a good colour selection to match any home decor colour scheme. You can even interchange the print colours to whatever base colour that’s already there, e.g. turquoise on black or on white base, silver on white or black base, etc, you get the idea! If not, drop me an email or give me a call and we can discuss colours .

Without further adieu, I shall give you a sneak peek on what’s been cooking in the back ground (inside the studio) in the process of making ‘Black Keys’, still continuing “The Secret Music” collection.

Limelight is a two month pop up gallery, showcasing new and emerging artists and makers in and around Edinburgh. So get yourself in there and have a look around, as there are lots to see in there. Plenty of impressive work to look at (also available for purchase) made by emerging impressive talents around the burgh.

If you pick up one of our postcards on any of the days, you may be able to catch a sneak preview of one of our new designs that’s been brewing in our Edinburgh studio before the official launch!
